The
COSMOSIL, CN-MS columns (phenylethyl functional group)
and the COSMOSIL CN-MS columns (cyanopropyl functional group)
possess a secondary separation mode (p-p interaction). These
columns are highly recommended for situations where a C18
or other alkyl chains cannot separate isomers and other
compounds of structural similarity.

of mono-substituted benzenes |

COSMOSIL PE-MS shows slightly longer retention time
for compounds such as nitrobenzenes, which have
electron acceptors, or electron donor compounds
(such as anisole). This suggests that COSMOSIL PE-MS
may be effective for the analysis of the compounds,
which cannot be separated by a C18 column.
